Happened to be in Houston working and went to the game tonight. Good effort from the Monsters. This appears to be a very well-prepared team right now.
Was stunned by how few people were in attendance. Announced 2,500, but would guess that less than 300 were in the building.A good high school game in Strongsville draws more than this game did.
AHL should be embarassed. No way Cleveland should ever have to feel bad about hockey support when there are crowds like this!

And it's even better that both Cann AND Weiman recorded the two shutouts (not just one guy). The one thing the Monsters have had the past couple of years is solid goaltending. Maybe Mr. Cann is going to help us continue that tradition.
i expect the line up to continue to fluctuate but not that (dupuis-durno-haydar) 1st line! it is perhaps, the best in the AHL (with the exception of SA's porter-tikhonov-boedker)...
fritsche and mcnicoll will probably get fewer games with other small skill guys ahead of them (haydar & sertich) on the depth chart.
on a side note, we should have a contest naming that 1st line (triple 'D'?, darren-durno-dupuis). i hope they don't change it up all year. they will put up some SICK numbers if they stick together!
also, we have ruined two perfect PK's on this trip so far and are out of the basement as far as our PP% goes.

I agree 100% that the first line (Haydar, Durno, Dupuis) could really put up some numbers! Durno scored, what, 25 goals last year, or something like that? Haydar scored 31. And Dupuis, if the line keeps clicking like this could probably score between 10-20 goals this year. And the best part, THAT"S ONLY ONE LINE! We have three more offensive lines to go. I am very excited about line number 1.
On the note of the game against the Aeros, the Monsters got on the board first which is good, it's never easy to play from behind. Weiman stood up great! Hopefully we see more shutouts from him in the near future!

if i recall it was stoa-stewart-sertich. if that stays together it should be good too. two guys with size and a skilled center could lead to a lot of points... if stewie gets called up again, willsie could get back on with those two.
i expect mercier to stay on the third line with burki as center. wingers could be yip when he is healthy again, fritsche or mcnicoll.
fourth line would probably have bourdeleau and ???
can't wait until the CHBC dinner on sunday to give them congrats!
Posted October 19, 2009 10:11 PM Hide Post I've decided to go to games where I want to see the dev. team of certain NHL affiliates. I like the canucks and red wings, so the griffins and moose will draw me to the Q. I'll probably check out Hamilton as well since I mildly like the habs.
I've given the monsters plenty of chances, but they're just not worth watching (especially at these prices). Gilbert blew it when he signed with the Avs.

Posted October 22, 2009 11:51 AM Hide Post I swear Haydar looked taller when he was wearing a Griffins sweater!
The monsters might have a shot with this productive line and solid goaltending to go the distance.
First the Monsters aren't even worth watching, now they have a chance to go the distance? Which one is it????
Maybe you should hold off before you make your inevitable negative post. I hate posting on forums b/c I can't stand the pessimism and ignorant comments, but I follow them b/c I love the Cleveland teams and sometimes it is interesting to read what people say. But I couldn't resist any longer. I know forums are for voicing your opinion but at least make some sense when you post. You bash on our Monsters just for the sake of hearing your own voice.
I have Browns, Indians and Monsters season tickets. I've been as ****** off at my teams as any one b/c of poor play. But being negative just to be negative is meaningless. You have no credibility.
But post on. I know this is an open forum and you can say what you want.
