It's official - announced on the NHL and the AHL sites. A group called Arrow owns them now. It was a condition for them to stay that they have a new owner.

Yep Ned - The ahl voted unanimously to approve the sale of the Rochester Americans. Now, we just need to get things in place with our sole affiliation with Florida (Buffalo is going with portland) and renewing the lease for the arena. That is the sticking point. The city wont offer a new lease if the former owner is involved with day to day operations with the team. He is still minority owner and wants to be involved day to day. So we aren't out of the woods yet. This stinks, i don't know how you folks did it when you lost your team. This is driving me nuts.

When the Browns left, it was a done deal by the time Cleveland found out. I've been a Seahawks fan ever since.

i do have to say i am a seahawks fans to.
But to tell you kimber. it is pretty hard when you lose a team you follow forever. when we had the lumberjacks and we lost them, wow did i cry and i would not support the barons...well till i saw jillson. but non the less it is quite hard and im really pullin for you over here. i would hate to see the americans go. they might not be the best team but they were a great team to watch. i was planning on comming up there this hockey season to see them too. i wish you the best of luck!

The new owner is from Canada and has said that he will do anything to make our team a contender again. That sounds promising. Like i said before, we still have to get the affiliation worked out and agree on a new lease. The lease is the biggest problem. Supposedly the deadline is May 16th to have everything in place. Keep your fingers crossed. Katie, if you make it to rochester, let me know.

I'm glad things are working out for the Amerks, but I have doubts the new ownership will pour money into the team and organize it better. It sounds more like a last-minute-deal to keep the team afloat by calling in some favors and switching ownership around to get around the Mayor's mandate.

The folks who own Arrow appear to be more interested in the Lacrosse side of things than hockey. Probably are going to get the Lacrosse team as payment for helping save the Amerks, and once the mayor retires or loses an election they'll sell it back to the original owner.

Well, Kimber, at least a little good news. It just wouldn't be the same without the Amerks coming to town. Keep us all posted. I know 2 Cleveland fans that are pullin for ya.

thanks alot everyone for your support. This is a whole new experience. I never thought that anything would happen to our team. For 50 years, our team hasn't had any problems, now this. 3 of our teams {hockey, lacrosse and soccer teams) have had financial problems this year. Coincidence that they are all owned by the same person? Our soccer team has been sold and now the lacrosse and hockey teams are sold. Everything has to be in place by friday. I will let you know. Thanks again.

Good for Rochester and their fans. Would have been a shame to end it like that. After all, what is there to do in Rochester in the Winter besides shovel snow......lots of snow.
