Just wondering what all of you received at the game last night. I had to give my tix away because something came up.

Would not have won the jerseys since I do not have full season tickets, but would like to know what else they gave out?

Just a crummy (Edited from the real word I was gonna use) buy one ticket get a voucher for another game for next year. Full season ticket holder. they gave away a couple vacuum cleaners. a dozen peeps got prizes on ice in the second intermission(xbox, trip for two, health package,) nothing spectacular.some 10 year old kid won the riding mower . left the game with 5 left to go as they were just going to lose again, effort was there but no desire to win nor the talent.

I only recognized 1 as a season ticket holder. Many people in the upper bowl won jerseys.

Geez, we donated $2000 in goods and services, sorry you didn't think a back yard carnival was spectacular. The guy who won that has a 7 year old daughter, trust me, she will think of that more than a vacuum or lawn mower.
I do agree with you about the Rider though, I thought that would be the centerpiece last night. Noticed UPS got their name tagged to everything and good ole' MUCH MOUTH Bishop tried to take over the show to make us realize just how good Olivier is. WKNR Puck Shuffle my behind...

Got a Winking Lizard T-Shirt, a back massager (Gave it away), some stickers, some stuff animal thing (Gave it away), a couple buy-one-get-one vouchers for next year, a $3 off coupon for next year, a bunch of free small Arby Curly Fry coupons, and that's it.

We lost but I thought the game was fun until the penalty shot basically made our chances of tying it up near zero.

I'm going to watch the game on B2 tonight and hope we win it at Rochester.

the people next to us caught a bunch of the "prize packs" - coupons, promotional pens for a local dentist, some stuffed animal thing... basically junk. it looked like they were getting rid of piles of promotional materials - mountain dew blankets in a couple sections, ohio lottery towels, labatt tshirts, etc.

the stuff given away on-ice was pretty awesome. if they hadn't promoted "thousands of prizes", it would have been even more spectacular. it seemed like some were there as if it were gambling rather than a hockey game. i had hoped against hope to win healey's or purinton's jersey, but was pleasantly surprised when my wife came back from a bathroom break with a jersey from the team shop for me. it wasn't free, but it was still awesome. i'm in my 30s and a backyard carnival would still be sweet (of course i live in a condo and don't have a yard). that was a very generous donation.

i waited until after the game to redeem my scratch-offs and was given more buy-one/get-one vouchers than i know what to do with. i guess most people found these "wins" to be losses since there were stacks left unclaimed.

i thought they'd throw out more shirts or some of the left over monsters blankets (assuming they still have any). they threw at least a couple hats. i didn't catch anything except some bad calls by the officials and some hard-nosed hockey in the first.

The large crowd behind the Monsters the whole game was great support! I wish we had more games like this throughout the year.

I do have to agree though, most of the stuff they gave away was junk, I mean who needs a free "toothbrush" Yes that was amusing!

I do agree just randomly giving away the jerseys was bogus, I do believe more consideration should have gone towards the season ticket holders or atleast split it. We show up at every home game and support the team, yet some fan who shows up for one game wins a jersey, whos confused here? Im thinking thats were the front office got the idea to give away the black jerseys once we renew.

Hope to see everyone next year too!

i think a good compromise would be to have a STH raffle for the away jerseys, or some away jerseys. i like the away ones better personally. it's very cool to randomly give them to fans in the stands. i wish it wasn't promoted though so that it'd be more likely a fan and less likely a spectator. i imagine a slugworth type waiting for some kid with the winning ticket offering him $300 for the item immediately. if a winner were a real fan, the thrill of getting johnny boychuk's jersey on-ice would be worth far more than $300.

i've got an eye on ebay to see if/when these pop up and for how much. so far i've only seen one autographed replica jersey show up on ebay and it went for a lot.

I feel that all the non fans that where at the game took away from the great time I had for the rest of the season. I understand that the monsters wanted to fill the stands but the promotion of thousands of prizes brought the idiots out of the wood work for this game. I am a STH holder for next year and I love the buy one get one free ticket that i won that works good for me, I would be nice if i could take that ticket price off my STH price. I have been to most of the games this year and supported the team but i feel that only the people that came out for the free stuff got appreciated, not the real fans. Way to go monsters great fan appreciation night!

in a way, it's a no win situation because there's no way to get more people into hockey and not disrupt the loyalists. i'm just thrilled when i'm sitting near people who aren't obnoxious and the last three games have been good in that respect. there were only three games i went to where i sat near people who knew the game, let alone the team. i was fortunate for the last game that the newbies behind me were polite, albeit oblivious. i can't imagine shelling out for game tickets not understanding fundamentals. maybe with FSN broadcasting more monsters games people will watch on TV, get up to speed and then actually watch the games. I suppose the only other thing to do is to cluster STH seats and sit in that section.

it's tough to not be an elitist and to share the love of the game when the people sitting behind you are screaming about the quality of hot dogs, wait at concessions, yelling "punch him in the face, hit him with your stick!" and other such garbage.

I had one of my buddies there last night. HE WON THE LAWN TRACTOR!! I get Season tickets, and he wins the tractor! NICE!! Guess I shoulda traded him seats for the night. He said the contest was messed up, and everyone got the wrong prize on the ice. He originally had the back yard carnival prize, but after further review he got the tractor. Supposedly Oliver was to open the envelopes and match to the pucks the fans drew, but somewhere it went awry, and he just gave them away numerically! So after getting off the ice, they made the corrections, and thats how he ended up with the lawn tractor! Hope Oliver didnt get in trouble!

BTW, any body needing a Cub Cadet rider, I think I know where there will be one for sale, as my friend has a REAL small yard!

Great night though.. I just wanted a JERSEY!

didnt win squat, got a couple buy one get one free but i already have season tickets so i dont need them.
kind of stupid how they did the whole jersy off the back giveaway, i think it shoulda been a raffle for all the season ticket holders, since we are the ones that are going to all the games anyway and supporting this team, not just jonny on the spot who just got his free tickets from his company or just decided to go see a hockey game.
its great they want people to come down and i'm all for that but to give away sweaters to first timers to me is just lame, if any sth holders got a sweater @ the game let me know. this way i can prove myself wrong.

Yeah, the jerseys really should have went to season ticket holders. If anything, just advertise it as a a random drawing but pick only from the STHs. Or even do half and half. What first time fan would be the wiser? Anyway, there was still enough junk given away that most people came away with something (not me though, except for the scratch off tickets).

Well, I dont need the tractor either, and I probably coulda talked him into the jersey.. The one time I shoulda took the wife , we would have won the tractor.. then at least she wouldn't complain when she had to mow the lawn! LOL!!

I guess I agree that a game worn jersey means more to a season ticket holder than a guy who came for the prizes. I appreciate that the Q folks want it to be fun and fair for everyone, but the odds are that the STH will treasure the jersey more than a random pick. Sure, you could be a guy who bought a ticket rather than paid for a package and you follow the game. But I think we all know the odds of that are pretty slim. Most jerseys probably went to people who didn't know who the player was or what position they play. It'll end up on Ebay or in the back of some closet and tossed in a garage sale. And that seems sad to me. Most of us don't care if random people win lawnmowers or vacuum cleaners. We just want to know the jerseys are going to people that actually want them.

Hopefully if they didn't give away the Away jerseys to a pack of orphans that needed blankets for the night, that they let the players keep them. It was their first year here, and I'd hope they'd want a memento as well.

They just better not be in a dumpster in the back of the Q.

Most i think are saved for the charity auctions. I don't think the players get the jerseys at the end of the season. I have an old lumberjacks jersey from get it off our backs that i would give to the player if he wanted it. was a lane lambert # 19 and he is now the head coach of the milwaukee ffranchise.
