What is going on with Jeff Jillson? I thought he had a great game the other night with his goal. Why is he on waivers? Can he still play with the team while on waivers? How long do teams have to claim him? So many questions, but I thought this was too sudden and unexpected!

he had a terrible game on Friday, but this isn't the kind of thing that's done based on one game. he's probably not living up to the developmental potential as they thought he should have.

all hockey decisions are made in denver. they don't see him playing for the avs apparently. i wish i could say i was surprised, but i'm actually surprised he made the clear day list. he's not a bad player, but he blows easy plays a lot (working the blue line, playing defense in the crease).

where's the source for this anyway? i don't see anything on the ahl or on the monsters site. it's not that i don't believe it, but i can't find it.

oh well, maybe he wasnt producing the way colorad wants him to. i think another player they can do without is mike vernace, he is not the greatest player on the ice. he has constantly had a minus rating and has not shown much improvement, i know he has alot of assists but for every assist he gets, he wipes it out when the other team scores. he needs to improve big time, to be a solid blue-liner. its not that i hate the guy but when i see double digits in the minus column a light bulb should go off and the coaching staff and colorado need to reevaluate the player.

I think he is now a vet, that means that he is past the number of games (260) to make him a vet. I think you can repeal that if you place them on re-entry waivers and then resign him. I think you then don't have to count him against the 5 allowed Veteran Players dressed each night.

Jillson was placed on re-entry waivers. It sounds like the Avs are trying to call him up to the big club if he isn't claimed

Jeffy's a good kid when he stays focus. I've been watching to see if anyone's picked him up, but so far nothing. I think the Avs need an extra body because of all of the nagging injuries to their roster. I've watched him since he was with San Jose, so I know what he can do. I just hope that it's for the Avs.

Hopefully someone claims him, he sucks.

YES. You guys got to get use to that JILLSON IS BACK. I think he's a great player and can use him. Quick question since colorado re signed him...That means he'll back with us next year? IM just really confused on the re entry waivers and how they work.

Players with a certain number of games played/years of service (and I cant remember the #'s off the top of my head) must pass thru waivers going down and re-entry waivers going up. After the trade deadline, any player claimed on re-entry waivers cannot play for that NHL team until next season. Thus, very few are claimed after the trade deadline and many teams call up to evaluate their talent for next year's roster. Jillson was probably called up for injury replacement.

he'd be a star in the ECHL but is pretty disposable in the AHL. he'd be a 4th line replacement player for the NHL, but they'd have to limit his ice time. he can play the blue line pretty well (not great) and he sucks in tight defense around the net. he's not physical enough to be a defenseman and he's lacking finesse or speed to be a forward.

I am a big Jeff Jillson fan from his time that he spent in Rochester. I agree he is not the best defenseman in the league, but he is definitely not the worst. He can contribute alot to a team and can be consistent. Rochester fans were rough on him from the start. Alot of people would argue this point, but i feel that he wasn't given a change in Rochester. And with the team that we had this year (avg. age of 21) would could have used his experience on defense. Don't make the same mistake Rochester did, give him a chance, He may surprise you.

he used to play here as one of the barons. he sucked then. he's a little better now.

not that he's not good he just makes poor judgments and to be honest we dont have the best defense in the league so...

so im still wondering cause no one has given me staight answer on this....since jillson was on re entry waivers and resigned......is he resigned through next season or what. what happens to him next season. im jillson fan and always will be. even though supposedly he's in his prime for being what 27...i wont give up on him, i still have faith. our defense problems dont revolve around him. everyone says our defense sucks cause of jillson....that isnt true. its the entire defense. i was at the last toronto game we had at the q and i could not beleive thier defense. as soon as we had the puck anyone on the ice in a toronto jersey was on the other side of the red line defending and protecting that goal. all 5 skated backwards hitting the puck away making it incredibly hard to score. not one toronto player was behind the monsters waiting to get the puck back. thats what we need to do. even though defensemen's job is to...defend! we need help...2 guys just isnt enough right now and if we did what toronto did, we would be in good shape. i see why we have the wings by the red line waiting for the puck but instead of waiting and doing nothing how about defending, just a guess. i think a little help would go a long way if we got it. offense needs to step up to...we shoot as a team, we defend as a team and we play as a team.

i just also wanted to say that i get everyone has opions and i respect them. but some need to just keep to themselves. ive had people come up to me or pass me and recognize me or read my shirt and make it a point to tell me jillson sucks. good for you for thinking that but really i dont come up to you and just yell random stupid stuff about your player and how they suck. and what makes me laugh is so many people go this person sucks and that person sucks. well obviously they dont suck if they're playing pro hockey. i dont see the people who smack talkin monster players on the ice playing pro hockey. so im just taking a wild guess if they're on the ice playing pro hockey im guessin they dont suck as bad as you say they do. they're on the ice not you. and theres been a few times i sat in front of these way too old puck bunnys and all they do is make jokes about the players sexual orintation. like cause so and so didnt say hi to them hes gay. i mean honestly i dont know what them being gay has to do with them playing hockey, but have respect for the players and the people around you. im not just saying this cause they say it about jillson but its all the players and what not. ive talked to some of the players outside the rink and they are really awesome guys and to hear people talk like that is just rude and insulting. all i want to say is have respect for the team and the people around you. you have your opinion but not everyone wants to hear it because nobody cares. for the people who do talk like that. seriously grow up and be mature, nothing is more annoying then you all. we all want to enjoy a great hockey game but people like you ruin it for the real fans like us!

Hey Katie you stick to your guns and support Jeff Jillson. I did the same in Rochester. I cheered and the fans were cruel. I then went out and bought his amerks jersey and wore it every game for the rest of the season. Jeff told me that everyone would make comments and they did. I just looked back and smiled. No one can tell me that all the places that he has played that he has been the problem on defense. Apparently, Umich didn't think so. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for who you support. Hang in there and know that i am supporting you too.

He's not a bad guy at all. if he is so bad then why is he still playing hockey? if he was so bad no one would pick him up. im his biggest fan... i think hes an amazing player and hes cute to lol. really cute. but i like him for his ability to keep on driving. Everyone makes comments to me. I went down to florida for spring break and i made an airbrush shirt that said kick some ice jillson and when i would wear it to the monster games....all i got were loaud annoying remarks about how he sucks and blah blah blah. obviously kimber they're just jealous cause they aren ton the ice playing and plus he has the best fans in the world. i have so much repsect for him and I'll continue till he retires. He's an awesome guy on and off the ice. and i wish people would just give him a chance. im hoping to buy his avs jersey. or just a jersey with his name on it. i hope so. hes a great guy and i think its awesome knowing that i am not the only fan out there. people like jillson to. thank you for the support kimber and i totally support you to.
