heck yea... in cleveland it gets pretty bad.....even my friend says rude comments about him. which bothers me but i let it go cause. deep inside i know he would be pretty appreciated to know at least one person supports him. hes a great guy and ill support him in watever he does. and it is good to see that im not only the only one supporting him but hes got a big fan somewhere other than ohio. its a great player and noone cares to see that and they're missing out. hes a tropper and if he has a bad game he keeps it too himself which is good. i like how he never fights. i would love to see him in one fight cause i know he would kick some butt. its great tlaking to you kimber. to actually have a player in common its awesome. everyone on here hates him and then talks crap for me and i take it....which usualy ill agree someone and say yea i guess they do suck. but not with him. im a proud fan and forever will be. i wish i can get his jersey. they had his tye dye jersey for auction and i was gonna bid on tnhat and some guy goes its for my 4 year old son.... and im like what? hes like yea...tell him whos your fav player and the kid goes. number 18....and im like do you know who 18 is? of corus not the parent said he just likes it cause he likes the number 18. i mean come on...nothing wrong with that....but let me have the jersey im one of his biggest fans, i would pay like 1000 to pay to have it on my body and i ac tually like the player who wears it and i can tell you pretty much all his stats and teams hes been on where hes from. and all thewyre going to do is put it in a fram and then the kid will like number 4 what are they going to do then with number 18. im sorry i was just really upset...cause you can make him a tshirt that says 18 when the real fan can get the jersey and proudly wear it. .....thanks kimber for listening. we're in this together. ____________________________________________________________ Go Monsters!

Not a problem Katie, anytime you want to vent about how people are towards jeff, go ahead. I have had to listen to it the whole time he was in rochester. He is an amazing defensemen and a great person. People that say the nasty things haven't taken the time to get to know him. He is lucky to have your support there in Cleveland. I know that its easy for me to say, but don't let it get to you. You and i know that everything they say isn't true. Take care.

yea def kimber. there isnt enough room for more jillson fans. i think you and i are enough. i hope hes knows that i support him. i make tshirts and posters and witty post its for him. i hope he likes it. it was kinda funny on the last game i got free post its so i stuck them to the glass behind the bench and i made one for jillson. on of corus went fo jillson. and the other was jillson rocks my red socks. (hes a huge red sox fan) so like nobody got it..they all thought i had red rocks on. but the other defnensemen vernace saw my post it and read it to jillson and he laughed and smiled. so i think he really liked it. i even made a go jillson in boston lettering. like i would do anything for that guy. its funny cause everyone who talks crap about him syas when i met him he was an a hole....but what it seems like wiht your story and me- hes been really awesome. he as been with me at least.like he must know that i cheer for him and stuff cause hes never been mean to me. always nice and polite. so....maybe hes only nice and polite to his 2 fans who give a crap about him. people can talk and what not but it doesnt bother me cause were a pretty good jillson team and thats all that counts ____________________________________________________________ Go Monsters!

I normally dont put my 2 cents into discussions like this but in this case I will make an exception because you two are setting yourselves up for some troubled times and attacks.
As for Jeff, UMich? great, this aint college anymore. The kid had skills otherwise her would not have been a 1st round pick. What is his game missing? 1. He cant keep the puck in at the blue line. 2. mentally he isnt strong enough to overcome his mistakes and learn from them. 3. personality-wise I havent met him but he has a track record of getting into skirmishes with teammates because of his lack of effort, so there has to be something there. 4. Unfortunately he was in the Sharks system (where floating and 6 minute hockey is rewarded)for his developmental years and that certainly hurt his potential in unfathomable ways. 5. He has played professionally for what, 6 years now and still makes the same mistakes.
He will always get opportunities because he was a 1st rounder but that doesnt mean he is great, just has the potential to be great.
My issue with him is wasted talent and questionable heart. He reminds me of a defensive version of Alexandre Daigle. Almost all the skill he needs but no heart for the game.
With many players I have had to learn to separate the player on the ice from the guy off the ice and in this case I really had to focus on that cuz his play annoys me often. Blind allegiance to a nice guy is never a good thing. Maintain a little perspective, it will save you a lot of trash.

whatever herman........you have your opinion and we have ours. honestly sometimes its the nicest guys that get the fans. ill choose my reason and way to like jillson. i dont just like him cause hes nice. to me hes a great player and always will be. you can say that hes not or i have my bar set pretty low but i like him and really to me thats all that counts. and i may not like him the way you think i should but i guess i see more in him then you do. im just not going to give up a on a plyer cause he might have had a not so cool season...like maintian a little perspective...honestly what is that. hes not mentally strong enough to overcome mistakes?....then if thats true this whole team isnt mentally strong enough because they all havent been overcoming thier mistakes. honestly what your tellin me is bull and thats just me and other could agree or disagree. but honestly i dont know if you're trying to change my mind or what, its not going to happen. your 2 cents not to be mean...but it wasnt worth anything. ive been attacked about my support for him and every game is toruble for me cause theres always comments i get but it doesnt bother me. i still like him and always will and can handle myself when i run into people like you. so thanks for your opinion but i disgree. hope that didnt come off rude but ive really had about it with people tellin me or hinting at who i should and should not like. so im starting to fight back. thank you for all the negative facts you can possbily say about him... he has done great things to.... you must not see him play alot because you would mention a stregnth or 2. just because he was a first round pick doensnt mean hesa garenteed a spot anywhere in hockey....beleive me if is as bad you say he is then no coach would put him on his team. really they wouldnt...first draft pick or not. if the player isnt good then dont put him on the team. so jillson has something that keeps him on teams if he didnt then he wouldnt be on a team or up in colorado helpin out the team or we probably wouldnt be even talking about him. ____________________________________________________________ Go Monsters!

i realize that since i'm not from Cleveland, I am an outsider. My opinion may seem off, but it is my opinion none the less. Jeff is not the best defenseman, but he is by far not the worst. His hockey credentials show that. The point that he has played for 4 teams isn't a valid one. Look at some of the players that have played on multiple teams. His market value was good and that made for bargaining power. If he is so bad, why is he in the Monsters lineup every night. Why was he recalled by Colorado for a month at the beginning of the season. Granted he didn't play, but he was still recalled. So my allegiance isn't just for a nice guy, its for a proven defenseman. He may make mistakes, but its definitely not for lack of trying. My perspective on this topic, is that his high school and college experience may have got him drafted first round, but his talent is what keeps him on a team. As for saving me alot of trash, i can handle it. I support Jeff and always will. Not only the hockey player but the person, they are one and the same. Herman and the hansons, i respect your opinion, as i hope that you respect mine. I guess you could say that we agree to disagree.

KatieRoo, I really dont know what you were reading but I wasnt saying how BAD Jillson is or anything like it. I mentioned his weaknesses as anyone would who has watched him for 5 years. I dont understand your paranoia or your insults towards me. I was trying to save you grief. Sorry to care. It's a shame you want to put me into one of your very few boxes without knowing anything about me. Then again, you are a teenager and you know everything so why should I try. Adios

What really upsets me with this accusation from KatieRoo18 is that she does not really understand the difference between a real fan and a groupee! My son, who KatieRoo18 is referring to decided last summer that he wanted to play hockey at the age of 3 1/2. After some time with rollerblades, my wife and I decided to let him try skating. In one of the original practices that the Monsters had at IceLand in Strongsville, my wife took our son up there to see if this was the sport he wanted to play. It was then he noticed "Number 18" and was constantly calling his number. Honestly, when was the last time you heard a 3 1/2 year old refer to a player by his actual name? He has constantly looked at Jeff Jillson as number 18 and will forever look at him as this number. It was from this time forward, our son has progressed in skating and will start competitive hockey this fall. All this was from the time our son looked at Jeff Jillson as "Number 18". While you may desire to lay in bed with his jersey, our son has dreams of playing hockey just like his favorite player..."NUMBER 18"! So before you take your own desires in hand, please think about the time our son looked at an athlete as a hero and role model and not for personal gains or desires. Heck, maybe one day, you can offer him boat loads of money for his jersey which undoubtedly will be "NUMBER 18". From a proud parent and not a groupee! ____________________________________________________________ tye dye

To Katie and Kimber:
The reason we give Jillson a hard time is because were still watching him. He was in Cleveland playing for the Barons a few years ago and by now he should be in the NHL. He looks worse than rookies. I wont be surprised if hes not in the AHL anymore cause he just doesnt have the talent.

To Clesportsfan8706
I appreciate your opinion. There are alot of guys in the ahl that should be in the nhl by now. The ahl is suppose to be the developmental league, but explain that to all the guys that are in their late twenties and early thirties that are still playing there. Their love of the game is what keeps them going, the hope that they might make it back to the nhl. I have said all along that Jeff is not the best defenseman, and its true. He has things that he needs to work on. The thing that bothers me is everyone saying that he doesn't have his heart in the game. Talk to this kid for awhile and them make that judgement. His first year in Rochester, I had no use for him. Then i took the time to talk to and watch him. I have been a fan ever since. I say this not as a groupie, but as a die hard hockey fan that has been going to the game for over 25 years. Everyone has their favorite player, my just happens to be Jeff Jillson. That is all that i wanted to express. Thanks

Unfortunately, you probably did not think that I would see it. I have been involved in the sports industry for well over 27 years and even played a sport up through college. Albeit, I never went pro, however, you can never compare yourself to me in regards to what a sports fan should be. I have worked with athletes, I have talked with athletes and even socialized with athletes in my career and I do understand it takes someone special to relate to a young individual and to see what it was like when they were that age. You may call me rude, it will not affect me. I have seen you in action and maybe you should start looking at yourself. There is a fine line to admiring an athlete for what they do for us as fans and then there are the times when certain individuals take it too far. This is exactly what you have done when reading your past messages. KatieRoo, if you care to respond, just think before you type. You are close to being an individual who is on a trip where you think that you are all that with Jillson. Just so you know, the jersey has been encased in glass and is currently in my study. More people have seen this item in our house and to the care at which it is preserved...that would have really looked at while you were wearing it. After explaining to people how our son has taken a hold of hockey and always looks for "Number 18" when watching hockey, sparks nice conversation. When my son is old enough to understand the meaning of why I bought this jersey as well as contributing to the charity sponsor, it will go into his room. Just like the autographed baseball from A-Rod (when he was a rookie with Seattle), Football from Ozzie Newsome, World Series memorabilia from 1995 and 1997, autographed bat from Eddie Murray...get my drift! Jillson is by far no HOF candidate compared to the other items I have, however, to my son, he is! By encasing this jersey and other items, it will bring up more discussions in conversations as well as memories than you wanting to wear it out. Call me rude if you like, you stated this. I am not the only one in this forum that believes this. Take a hold of reality and start pursuing something that will enable you to move forward in your career. I am sure that when Jillson moves on to another team, there will be another KatieRoo there for him. Have a nice day and if you would like to talk sports, I will be more than happy to talk with you about that. ____________________________________________________________ tye dye

well i read some of your post and thought it made no sense. sorry. i never said i was all that with jillson and what not. ive only met him like 5 times and thats about it. and i had like a little convo thats it. i never said i was his bestfriend, just his big fan. last time i checked i saw that was ok. i dont recall comparing myself to you as a better sports fan. no where did i say that. are you reading the right post? honestly. i never challenged your sportsmanship.....so i dont know what your point is. and i work around players to. i work in the sports industry. so i know what its like to be around athletes and what not. so dont tell me im too much of a jillson fan or i take it to far. theres nothing wrong with being a big fan. the way i like jillson or show my support is none of your businness. i did not start anything with you, you have chosen to attack me. i was just expalining to someone how i think i would have gotten more use out of it. i didnt really care if you saw it or not. i dont know if you know but if this post was to try to bring me down, it didnt. really doesnt bother me anymore. the jersey is gone and i moved on. i actually got another jersey with his name on it. so i can careless what you do with it. you blow things way out of proportion. and i can also state my opinion whenever and however i choose. im sorry you dont agree. im also sorry i didnt start more conversional stuff with you. i know thats pretty much what you want. to get a rise out me. but im kinda done. i have a jersey to show my support and im done wasting time writing stupid post on here to guys like you, who cant just let stuff go. so have fun with your framed jersey. and good luck to your son in competive hockey league. hope he does well. ____________________________________________________________ Go Monsters!

Katie Roo, The only thing I will agree with you on in your last post is that you stated "I did not start anything with you..". You started this with a 4 year old! You just never thought that I would see it! Have an enjoyable off-season and maybe we can start a new conversation this upcoming fall. Just be careful on what you write and who you write about...they just might see it. I say this to help you out, not to bring you down. ____________________________________________________________ tye dye

honestly sir. i didnt start anything. i was just expressing my opinions on it. i didnt go and yell at you or your son in the face or said rude comments. i just explained how i would get better use out of it. trust me if i cared if you saw what i wrote, then i wouldn't of wrote it. it really doesnt bother me that you saw it at all. i just wanted to get it off my chest and i did. now that i have my own. im completely fine. sorry if offended you but thats how i felt. hopefully get past this. hope your son has fun in hockey. its a good sport and good to get in while hes young. i wish you the best of luck. ____________________________________________________________ Go Monsters!
