Another home loss, though this time the Monsters turned in a respectable performance against a skilled (and very experienced) opponent.
This game was scoreless until late in the second period when Haydar came out of the box and jumped into the play for 3-on-2 Monsters rush. He very patiently held the puck until he saw Willsie, the trailer, coming up the slot. Nice pass, nice shot, and it was 1-0 Lake Erie.
But in vintage Monsters fashion they gave up the tying goal just a few minutes later, and from there it was Manitoba's grit that made the difference, I thought. The Moose simply weren't going to lose that game.
Willsie later got what you might call a lucky goal (a 50-foot wrister that somehow floated over Cory Schneider's shoulder) to cut the lead back to one, but I give the guy credit for continuing to put pucks on net. In my mind, he played like more of a leader tonight than he had previously.
All in all, this was the best performance I've seen from the Monsters this season, at least at home. But we can't have mental lapses like we did on the third Manitoba goal and expect to beat a team like that.
Oh well, we'll see if we can get 'em on Saturday night.
watched fridays game on t.v., they looked better than the previous games and made it interesting in the end but came up short.
tonight, great jump right out of the gate for this team, this is what i want to see, i think the ref helped out manitoba with a few of those b.s. calls he was making. nice shorthander by durno or was it haydar, i can't really remember i was just going bezerk that they scored shorthanded. nice to see stoa step up and get a multi point night, tonights game alot better they played manitoba tough, great win, wish there could have been a better turnout but oh well.

Friday night I watched on TV. Showed some life. Good checking, offense started to show some life. They needed to play a perfect game against Schneider and just didnt.
Saturday I was down there. Monsters came out checking and shooting, and with out an NHL quality gaolie to stop those shots, see what happens. Its good to taste a win.
