Tonight is the last home game of the inaugural Monsters season. The team will actually finish its schedule tomorrow in Rochester.
Can someone please explain to me why Hamilton was granted a penalty shot in the 3rd period tonight? I saw the previous play, and didn't see anything wrong with it.
i think they tagged denisov for interference. i'm wondering who knocked the goal off the mooring when the monsters "goal" did not count (and wondering why it wasn't a delay of game penalty).

Thanks. I guess they got the penalty shot because the play was a shot on goal then? This was my first real season watching hockey, so I'm still learning.
In both cases where the goal was knocked off when a LEM shot would have been a goal, yes there were two, the Hamilton goalie knocked the goal off the mooring with his foot. Both times.
It may have just been my bitterness in losing the final game, but it seemed to me that Hamilton was playing some dirty hockey last night with intentional penalties and things just to avoid goals by the Monsters.
By the way, thanks to the Monsters for a great first season!

I believe it was the goalie. they caught him the second time he did it and nailed him with an interference penalty.

yes it was the goalie and a couple of other hamilton players shot the puck out of play without tipping or hitting the glass which shoulda been called delay of game as well, the game was close until the nail in the coffin penalty shot, which i still dont know why they awarded it to him, did he even get the shot off? it looked like a good defensive stop to me but what do i know! i could be a better ref than some of these turkeys.

The delay of game for clearing the puck over the glass only pertains to goaltenders in the AHL...in the NHL, it goes for all players. I kind of prefer the AHL's way.
that is stupid, if the ahl is the premier development league for the nhl then you would think they would have the same rules concerning delay of game, they also need to have a two referee system in the ahl.
