The Coliseum! Great building for hockey.. much better than the Q. Of course Mileti owned the hockey team when it was built. Jacks had some great players come though..Stevens, Lalime, Martin St. Louis, Martin Straka, Ptr Sykora, all came through here, even for a short time. What was even bettter was when the NHL had the neutral site games here. getting to watch Lemieux, Jagr, Francis, Samuelsson and Larry Murphy, on our ice was awesome. I sure wish they would go back to those!
how was the coliseum better for hockey, it was made for the wha's cleveland crusaders and it wasnt even located in cleveland, i hated going to the coliseum and it is not a great place for hockey, i do remember seeing the neutral exhibition games there but the q is way better to see a hockey game, there is no bad seat in the house, plus the distance is closer to my house which is even better. i now live only 10 min. away from the q as opposed to the 45 to the coliseum. thank god they ripped that place down. oh yeah who remembers rick heyward!

Jerry Cheevers was the goalie for the Crusaders. We went to many of those games as young teenagers. I remember going to the old Arena to see the Barons in the 60s and every Sunday was a post game skate. That was the place to see a hockey game... BUT WHO OWWNNNNNS DA CHIEFS?

EVERY LOWER LEVEL SEAT IN THE Q IS HORRIBLE FOR HOCKEY.. YOU CANT SEE DOWN INTO THE CORNERS AND THE GLASS DISTORTS EVERYTHING. WHEN THE UPPER BOWL WAS OPEN THE SCORE BOARD WOULD GET IN THE WAY. UNLESS YOU ARE IN THE CLUBS OR IN HIGH CORNERS FORGET IT. AS FAR AS DRIVING DOWN, I STILL HAVE A 30 MIN DRIVE EITHER WAY. SO DONT MATTER TO ME.. BUT THE COLISEUM WAS WAY BETTER FOR HOCKEY.
Did you ever see the movie? Really wasn't asking who owned the real chiefs, The goalie, WHO OWND DA CHIEFS? Denis Lemieux, the goalie. One of the hanson brothers was actually named HANSON, 2 were real brothers, Carlson, one was named HANSON, STEVE & Jeff used their real first name Jack Hanson was played by DAVID HANSON. SO... WHO OOOOOWWNS DA CHIEVES?

I watched the 74-75 and 75-76 Johnstown Jets play in the NAHL. Yes I saw the making of Slapshot that documented those 2 seasons. In real life Davey 'Killer'Hanson wore #20, Steve Carlson #16 and Jeff Carlson #18. There was a third Carlson, Jack who was called up to the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the WHA. He wore #17. 2 great seasons of Johnstown hockey history. Yes I knew that you wer'nt actually asking who OOOOWWWNNNN da Chiefs OOOWWWNNNS. Neil Smith is the former G.M. of the New York Rangers.
