Hey guys and gals, I checked the roster and it does not say who is wearing the C and A's. I know Rycroft was the captain and I was just wondering if someone has assumed that role yet. If not, who do you think should be?

I was hoping Boychuk or Jones.

How does Boychuk deserve any letter? And Jones plays good but doesnt show leadership. Im telling you guys Mitch Love should get it. sure he fights alot but he does plays good D especially on the PK. I know i said this before but it was on a different topic. If not Love what player shows both skill and leadership to deserve the C? I dont think anyone yet.

Yeah, I do not think Boychuk should at all. I like Jones but I do not think he should wear a C, maybe an A. I did not think Rycroft was that great to wear the C either, he was just experienced... so what about Healey? I mean he is not the greatest skater on the ice, but he has been around.

if prizefighter love gets the C and purinton has an A, wouldn't we be the biggest bunch of goons in the AHL?

right now no one has shown the leadership it takes to wear the "C", was rycroft the best choice before he got traded i dont know but thats who they went with, now someone needs to step up and take command of this team. purinton has on of the "A"s can remember who has the other. until someone steps up and can lead the team and inspire then no one will see the captains "C".

Alternate Captains have been Healy, Smith & Purinton.
TUBaseball55, would have to disagree with you about Rycroft, he was the perfect Captain. He didn't complain about being a healthy scratch, everytime one of his guys got a penalty, he was seen speaking with the ref at the intermission, he was likable by the fans, media when they would show up, the management of the Q and the management of the AVS. (Wasn't the best player, but probably the best leader)
The Avs did him a favor by moving him to the Jackets, he didn't have a chance to play in Colorado again.

Yeah, I agree KJ... with Hensick, Smith, and Jones, I do not see Rycroft ever making it to Colorado. He may have a shot in Columbus.

So what do you do when they go to Canada? Or does Love has his legal stuff all settled?

Hilarious Chuck. KJ, your nuts if you think a player who is nice to refs and management should be captain. He had absolutely no team chemisty and couldnt score, thats why he was traded. Honestly, I think Sacco's doing the right thing by not giving a C out. But how does Smith deserve an A? And the only thing that relates to Purinton dealing with A is a**. How does making stupid penalties such as the one against San Antonio that put them on the PP with only a couple minutes left when Purinton boarded a guy, deserve an A?

purinton went to the box once - for a 2 min minor for either roughing or boarding.

i was at that game and that call was questionable at best, a boarding call used to be when the player was more than a few strides away and left his feet to finish a check, now they include when the player has his back to the defender and the defender either cross checks him into the boards face first or by checking (example: sundays game against the canadiens and the rangers the rangers guy cross checked a canadien player right into the board face first)
and he was only in the box for 2 min. the whole game there was no game misconduct, 10 min. or 5 min. major.
love might have his hands full with McCarty in the lineup against the griffins.

Rycroft was a good Captain for the start of the season. He was quite deserving. Scoring makes you a captain? So Sidney Crosby makes a good captain because he can score?
I agree with much of your post, especially about not giving out the C to anyone. Don't know why Smith got the A other than he was sent down to play AHL. Was funny he made his debut with the A. Rycroft though, was voted by the PLAYERS I believe from training camp and what everyone saw in him. Not arguing he couldn't score, but he was there for the players, management and fans. So, I will disagree with you on the fact that Rycroft was a good Captain the time he was here.

okay i dont think anyone is deserving of the captains "C". hamilton last years calder cup champs didnt have a captain. a captain doesnt have to be able to score, look @ adam foote (defenceman) he doesnt score that much, he is know for leadership (key word leadership) he leads the team the players look up to him. no one on this team has stepped up to lead them and until that happens there will be no captain on this team. they won without one against san antonio so...
